- Sign up for Twitter (if you haven’t already)
- Join our Hootcourse
- Get a blog (we like WordPress, but Blogger and Posterous are fine too) – if you’ve already got one, connect it to Hootcourse in the essay tab
That’s all you need to get playing (and really, even number 3 is optional). Once you’ve done that, here are some places you can go to get started:
- The quest log – if you’re the kind of person who thrives on structure and weekly tasks, this is for you. It’s your go-to guide for navigating professional networking.
- Hootcourse widget – in the sidebar. You can start interacting with others right away, and post directly to Twitter.
- Peruse and/or join the Diigo resources group
- Use the Hootcourse site to post to your blog and Twitter at the same time
- The forums – because it’s a Buddypress site, #pstn does have forums available for you to use if you have functional/technical questions, but you’ll get a much better response from the Twitterverse/Hootverse
.
Just a note on the blog thing for those wanting to connect their blogs to the Hootcourse:
- Edublogs is also fine to use, as it’s based on WordPress. Just use the WordPress option to connect it to the Hootcourse.
- WordPress users will need to enable the Atom and XML-RPC in your blog’s Writing settings. If you use a mobile WordPress app you probably already have this enabled.
